Kim Richey - Thorn in my Heart

Kim Richey is a new singer songwriter to me but it turns out she's been writing songs that I've been hearing and singing along to for years.  She's an Ohio native like me which of course makes me like her even more.  This is the title track from her new album - Thorn in my Heart.

I'll carry the weight of the world for you
No matter how far you ask me too.
I fighting a battle with the undertow
It's hard to hold your hand when you're letting go.

Kacey Musgraves - Follow Your Arrow

Kacey Musgraves album Same Trailer, Different Park is what country should be.  Country music needs more Kacey.  I have no problem with catchy little songs that are fun to sing along but sometimes you need more substance and Kacey Musgraves is more substance.  My favorite thing about this song is just the message that you shouldn't worry so much about what other people are thinking.  "You're damned if you do/you're damned if you don't/so you might as well do what you want/follow your arrow wherever it points,''  It should be interesting to see if this song is released as a single and whether it makes it onto country radio with lyrics that say "kiss lots of girls if that's something you're into" and "when the straight and arrow gets a little too straight just roll up a joint... or don't"
